Entertainment Industry Connection
Want
to work in the entertainment industry? Lisa's unique presentation concepts
require training and talent. What would you like to try?
FUNNY
FUNNY EASTER BUNNY
Quick
witted and cute, with a book of lines half an inch thick - that's a Funny
Bunny. Lisa Dean Productions is nurturing a team of 6 - 10 Funny Funny Easter
Bunny characters. To become Funny Funny Easter Bunny you pass the auditioning
process, and the trial performance period, undertake Funny Funny Easter Bunny
workshops and buy the rights to the character for one year. Your subscription
covers the costs of providing a quality suit, which will be yours to use while
you work as Funny Funny Easter Bunny. Training and industry advice are provided
as part of the package. A twelve monthly subscription is required, but is
much less after the first year, due to the set up costs of the presentation.
You will be provided with 3 - 5 days of work as the easter bunny character
each year, and paid professionally. If you would like to, or have contacts
to promote your character, there are appropriate contra-deals to encourage
this sort of networking. The best candidates for this work are people with
good clowning skills, comedy skills, and community theatre skills. Artists
with experience working in fairy shops and providing fairy parts have also
made terrific interpretations of this unique character.
SANTA'S
Apart
from recruiting mainstream Santa's, it is our intention to create a unique
Santa somehow, whether we put him in green or employ personalities with natural
grey hair. Perhaps you have a unique quality that will make Santa seem more
real? So far the Santa's have been characterised by their soft, other worldly
glow, the silver grey eyebrows, and fully covered face with theatrical makeup,
a beautiful doddery stoop, while also expressing lots of energy and the ability
to be excitable, and eccentric. Some of our Santa's have had good clowning
skills which are encouraged in the character who is portrayed as hard of hearing,
with poor eyesight, etc... You need to be very patient with Father Christmas!
Our best Santas have spent a lot of time in amateur theatre, and have had
the ability to provide a larger than life presentation: BIG gestures and movements.
Our Santas are required to wear theatrical makeup at all engagements. Santas
need to be able to work independantly and responsibly, paying attention to
costume care and presentation. The suit must be transported hanging, and be
ironed before every day of performances. No sloppy Santas here. People serious
and with professional pride essential. Once again, clowns, amateurs and professionals
alike are all welcome.
SANTA'S
HELPERS
Many characters are required for the Santa's Helpers team, and it is an ongoing
job, finding casual staff every year of a quality Lisa is proud to present.
Face painters, clowns, elves, and singing characters are all needed every
year. Of highest importance Lisa is seeking musician's who have an interest
in working in children's theatre and who will play the role of an elf in Santaland.
Piano Accordian players, Clarinet, Double Bass, Banjo and snare drums, instrumentalists
for walkaround jazz bands, small combos, and eccentric choirs performing as
characters are all invited to apply.
CAROL
SINGERS
Like to sing? Then you'd love to be a Santa's Helper! If you can work solo
or belong to a choir, you can gain employment with Lisa. Or if you would like
to work with us to create a choir join the training and we'll put it together.
Sight singing, jazz improvisation, and performance skills are all desirable,
however training is available.
MADHATTER'S
TEAPARTY
Musicians
required with clowning skills, to play whacky instruments as silly and individual
as you can create, to improvise with the materials around them and to offer
mimed and verbal humourous presentations. The Madhatter's Teaparty will be
presented in costume and is expected to be a three piece group, featuring
the White Rabbit, the Madhatter, and Alice. Anything can happen! All expressions
of interest welcome.
FACE
PAINTING - "FACES TO REMEMBER"
There are two styles of "Faces to Remember" as presented by Lisa Dean, and
they feature faces designed by Lisa Dean. The work requires travelling with
the visual display of the faces to be painted, and small chairs and table.
Colourful, distinctive presentations at all times are sought. "Faces to Remember"
feature faces in special themes, and always involve a face painter working
in character with a costume, a performance routine, and unique training. The
presentation often includes music as part of the presentation. If you would
like to do more face painting, and you are interested in providing something
more challenging, then this might be for you. The two styles of presentation
include spot face painting, and full masks. If you have your own face painting
designs, and your own character this can be incorporated into the organisation
so long as it is considered consistent with the style of the company.
BALLOON
SCULPTORS
All Lisa Dean balloon sculptors must be performers and develop a strong ,
fun routine. Develop your own style and routine in training with Lisa Dean
at Lisa Dean Productions and enjoy the professional reputation of the business.
TOYS
THAT COME ALIVE
This
presentation is for dancers and involves a dance sketch, where the "fairy
on the Christmas tree", or the "Toy under the tree" comes alive and dances
for the children. This is all the more exciting to perform in front of kids
because no one ever normally sees this wondrous occurrence - it all happes
while children are asleep on Christmas eve. Students of dance, amateur ballet
and professional dancers are all invited to apply.
PLUM
PUDDING
This is a stand up comic routine invented by Lisa Dean for an adult audience.
It takes a very whacky person to achieve this role and survive. (Corporate
audiences can make especially hard subjects). People with clowning and comedy
abilities required. Experience in amateur theatre a plus.
SPECIAL
CHARACTERS
If you have a special character and you would like to apply, you are invited
to do so. People are selected for their skills and performing abilities, and
being a "professional" does not always mean you will fit in with Lisa's style.
Most of our characters are played by a small number of trusted performers.
If you have the performance skills, experience in amateur theatre, have done
the "Small Companies & Community Theatre" course, worked fairy parties, then
you will be suitable to apply. Lisa has a constant flow of people applying
for work, and persistance and perseverence win out in the end. If you have
the talent, you'll get your turn to prove yourself. Working with Lisa Dean
Productions requires that you invest money in yourself for training, costumes
and for subscriptions to the creative material. People who can be relied upon
to work independantly, be a positive member of a team, will be employed again.
SONGS
FOR THE ELDERLY
This is a love job, if you like to play piano, and sing, and you enjoy the
slow, methodical, practical style of entertaining the retired population,
this could be for you. Although this work is occasionally paid, Lisa Dean
Productions prefers to rate this service as a volunteer role. You will be
validated and appreciated by the people in the nursing homes and recreation
halls of the retirement homes. Learn the repertoire and the skills by taking
lessons with Lisa Dean, and learn the techniques to provide welcome music
therapy, including the singalong of old time favourites. Guitar players can
also provide songs for the elderly, styled around Lisa's Family Folk & Country
Show. Perhaps you have your own ideas for presentation? There is always a
job for a volunteer in the local retirement community or senior citizens group.
You can
be out there doing it, with Lisa Dean Productions!
